Langar

 今朝のまだ静かなお庭。Quiet garden in the morning.

インドには宗教やカーストによって、仕来りや風習など全く異なり、

いろいろと興味深いのですが、

今日は※シック教のアンティ（大家さん）のシック教の集まりに参加してきました。

 

（わたしは大家さんの住むこの家の1階(日本で言う2階)のお部屋を借りています。）

 It is always interesting to see different cultures and customs in India.
Today I was invited to a ritual and lunch hosted by aunty, who follows Sikhism.
( I rent a room of 2nd floor of this house of aunty.)

白いインドスーツにターバンを巻いた人たちが
キルタンを唄い、(遅れたんでここは参加していません)

その後、「ランガル」というスタイルの食事をします。

ランガルとは、カーストや宗教などに関わらず、

全ての訪問者を迎えて一緒に食事をするという主旨で、

すてきな集いでした。

 This Sikh ritual is to sing songs by the men who wear white turban and Indian suits.
(I couldn't be on time for this part.)
Then food is served in the style of "Langar": 
welcoming all visitors regardless their social background.

濃厚なパンジャーブ料理と、

ターバンのアンクルたちと、

カラフルなクルティを装ったマダムたちがたくさん。

いつものお庭も賑やかです。

 With savory of Panjaab food,
cool turban-head uncles,
and madam in colorful & elegant kurti..
the garden turned to such a vibrant atmosphere.

 

上の階に住んでいるお友達も、

すっかりママになり、8ヶ月の坊やと一緒に。

 Together with my lovely frien living upstairs, who is a big mama now
of this eight-month-old boy.

坊やとともになんとかわいいのでしょう・・how cute they are!

※シック教はグル・ナナークが始めた宗教です。

男性はターバンを巻いていて、

産まれてから一度も髪を切らないそうなので、長い。

インド＝ターバンの印象は強いですが、

偶像崇拝・儀式やカースト否定をしているので、

ヒンドゥーとはまた別ですね。

さて、今夜は同僚のおうちに招かれて、

翌日のナヴァラトリ最後の日のプージャに参加してきます。

美しいものはなんだって美しい！

インドの旅続きます。

 And tonight, I am going to stay with my colleage's family who is very devotional Hindu.
Tomorrow is an ausipicous day, last day of Navaratri, and they will do pooja in the early morning.

My journey to find beauty continues.
